Journey Down the River Red

Alone I sat while sick in head
Figured a trip was needed down river red
Pain felt high upon the river’s raging tide
Betrayed again by that lover’s pride
A gentle nick as the water flowed
Upon my boat I prepared the load

The water rough, raged on my foray
Tossing and turning in a violent display
The water rushed me all about
Flowing faster it carried clout
The journey I hope will not be for naught
The water now calms, thicken and clot

The sky radiated a deep, ruby red
I have made this boat now my bed
I lay back and stare just to fantasize
Glistening stars shine from the skies
An image mirrored on the river red
I close my eyes and now rest my head
